Modifying parameters

When Transfer CFT is active, the registration of a parameter modification depends on the object involved. This topic describes conventions for modifying parameters, and conditions for the Transfer CFT to interpret the modification.

Static command modifications

Transfer CFT must be shut down and then restarted, for the new values to be taken into account. These parameters are static parameters. The static object parameters belong to one of two categories:

  • Defining the general environment parameters
  • CFTPARM
  • CFTCOM
  • CFTCAT
  • CFTACCNT
  • CFTLOG
  • Defining the network and protocol parameters
  • CFTNET
  • CFTPROT
  • CFTETB
Note For CFTETB you must shut down and restart the monitor only if you have changed the CFTETB ID=ALL parameter.

Dynamic command modification

In Transfer CFT there are object that take modifications into account dynamically by the monitor . These object parameters are applied to subsequent transfers, possibly over the same network connection. These dynamic parameters are of one of two types: either they are involved in controlling transfers or they control partner functioning. These objects are grouped into two categories as listed below.

Transfer objects

  • CFTAUTH
  • CFTIDF
  • CFTXLATE
  • CFTSEND
  • CFTRECV
  • CFTEXIT

Partner objects

  • CFTPART
  • CFTDEST

The modifications are also taken into account:

  • When restarting interrupted transfers, for the CFTPART object.
  • During subsequent sessions with a partner, for the following CFTXXX objects defining a partner’s CFTTCP network parameters.

Commands associated with a default identifier

The default identifier concerns the transfer objects, CFTSEND, CFTRECV, and CFTXLATE. It is defined in the CFTPARM object describing the general parameters where for CFTPARM the DEFAULT = DEFAUT.

If you modify a default identifier, the modification is not taken into account until Transfer CFT has been shut down and restarted.

The parameter setting commands are processed independently by CFTUTIL. Transfer CFT operates so that it is able to read the resulting PARAMETER or PARTNER files at any time.
