Managing Transfer CFT exit routines - CFTEXIT

This topic describes how to activate an exit task. A CFTEXIT object describes the environment and activation of an exit task. Each CFTEXIT object has an associated exit task.

Displaying the CFTEXIT list

  1. Click to expand the Initial Configuration folder in the left pane object manager.
  2. Right click the Exit Routine object.
  3. Click List all Objects. Alternatively, double click Exit Routine.

The CFTEXIT window is displayed in the right pane.

Use the column management to select which information to display. Click the icon to modify the displayed CFTEXIT parameters.

Completing the CFTEXIT window

To create or modify a CFTEXIT, display the CFTEXIt list. Click the Add icon to display the CFTEXIT window.

The following fields and components are displayed in the CFTEXIT tab. Complete the tab and click OK to confirm.

Field Description


Enter a unique object identifier. Respect Transfer CFT naming conventions.


Optional parameter. Indicates the format for the communication area.


Choose the programming language of the application, that uses the statistical data, from the drop-down list.

COBOL (default value): If necessary, the data fields are padded with blanks.

C: If necessary, the data fields are padded with binary zeros.


Use this field to pass information from the EXIT to the user application. You can enter up to 64 alphanumeric characters of free text.


Enter the name of the executable module (length of 512 characters) that corresponds to the EXIT task to activate. This module comprises the interface provided with the Transfer CFT product and linked with the user program.

To facilitate identification of the associated modules, the following module names are recommended:

  • CFTEXIA for a directory type EXIT
  • CFTEXIE for an end-of-transfer type EXIT
  • CFTEXIT for a file type EXIT

If you define more than one EXIT, you can add two characters to the name to assign a sequential number (for example: CFTEXIA01).


Enter the size, in bytes, of the work area reserved for the user.


Select the exit type.


Use this field to set the inactivity time of the EXIT task. Beyond this value, the task is shut down.
