Start and stop Transfer CFT

This topic describes the functions you can perform in the Transfer CFT management tab. This tab enables you to start or stop the Transfer CFT, and define certain start-up parameters.

Administration window

In the left pane object manager, double-click the CFT is not started/CFT started node to display the Administration window.

Note If the state of the Transfer CFT is undetermined, a grayed Transfer CFT icon is displayed.

Transfer CFT is not started tab

The fields and components displayed in the Transfer CFT not started tab are schematically illustrated in the following table.

Field

Description

Start Transfer CFT

Starts Transfer CFT. The Transfer CFT is started icon is displayed in the left pane tree structure.

Once the Transfer CFT is started the Transfer CFT icon changes from red to green.

Transfer CFT details are listed in the display box of the Transfer CFT monitor management tab.

Start options:

timeout

Enter time, in seconds, that is the maximum time that Copilot continues to try to start Transfer CFT.

command line

You can alternately start the Transfer CFT using command lines.

CFTPARM id

In the drop down menu select the PARM id configuration that you want to use to start the Transfer CFT.

If Transfer CFT starts correctly, the CFT details are displayed in the tab.

If there is a problem starting the Transfer CFT, a log file is generated and automatically displayed in the right pane work space.

Note: You can customize the Transfer CFT start process. To do so, edit the copstartcft.bat file found in the Copilot sub-directory.

MVS: The Transfer CFT start-up feature via the GUI is not available for MVS systems.

Shut CFT

Shuts down Transfer CFT . The Transfer CFT is not started icon is displayed in the left pane.

Shutdown options:

timeout

Enter time, in seconds, that is the maximum time that CFT Navigator will continue to try to shut down Transfer CFT.

Stop transfers that are in progress

Select this to immediately shut down the Transfer CFT. Note that all transfers are stopped, even if they have not been successfully completed.

No new transfer is initialized.

z/OS: The Transfer CFT shutdown feature via the GUI is not available for z/OS (MVS) systems.

Management menu commands

You can find Transfer CFT command short-cuts that you can access in the left pane tree structure. Expand the Administration folder and right click the Transfer CFT management node. The following commands can be performed here:

  • Check Transfer CFT status - performs a refresh so that the current Transfer CFT status is displayed
  • Automatic check Transfer CFT status - checks the Transfer CFT status at regular defined intervals
  • Start Transfer CFT with selected configuration - starts Transfer CFT using the current CFTPARM parameters
  • Normal shut of Transfer CFT - performs a shutdown that allows transfers that are in progress to complete before the monitor shuts
  • Force Transfer CFT to shut down quickly - performs a shut down without allowing transfers that are in progress to complete

Changing the Initial configuration IDPARM

To change the Initial configuration, which is the configuration and parameters that Transfer CFT uses by default:

  1. Right click the Initial Configuration folder in the left pane tree structure.
  2. Click Select another CFTPARM . If there is no other IDPARM listed, only the Configuration Wizard is listed in the menu.
  3. Click to select the new IDPARM. You can modify the selected configuration.
  4. Stop and restart the Transfer CFT to take into account the new CFTPARM configuration.
