Change text case

When dealing with roman text, all strings consist of letters that can display in the following ways:

  • In all lowercase
  • In ALL UPPERCASE (WHICH CAN BE CONVEYED AS SHOUTING)
  • As a mix of UPPERCASE and lowercase letters, to emphasize

To convert every character in a string to lowercase, use the function toLower, whereas for uppercase conversion, use toUpper. Similar to trimming and padding functions, these functions generate new strings with characters changed rather than modify the original ones.

These functions operate as expected only on strings encoded using ASCII-lineage character sets: ISO646, ISO8851 and all Unicode UTFs.
