Work with strings

In the previous chapters of this guide you learned about the use of strings, the S (string) class, its purpose, and how to include string literals in your expressions.

This chapter shows you how to compute complex strings from separate parts. A quick tour of the useful things you can do with built-in string functions, such as splitting, padding, extracting and so on, is included.

This chapter is intended as an overview of what you can do with strings. Only the main string manipulating functions are presented here. For additional information on string manipulation with DML refer to the DML User Guide and DML Reference Guide.
