Collection and Object lifecycles

Collection lifecycle

The lifecycle of a Collection in InterPlay starts when a Document is imported to be processed and ends when the Collection is purged.

To manage the Collection lifecycle, InterPlay provides:

  • A local management of the lifecycle: the steps in the lifecycle are controlled using the status property.
  • A configurable state transitions graph: you can define the list of status possible values and transitions between them.

Object lifecycle

InterPlay allows you to also manage individually the lifecycle of each Object by providing a:

  • Status property defined on the Object
  • Configurable state transitions graph for the Objects

The lifecycle of Object is defined independently of the lifecycle of Collection. Synchronization points between the two lifecycles can however be defined by setting conditions on the transitions. For instance, it can be enforced that a user can move an Object to a state "To Validate" only if the Collection that contains it has the 'Ready" status.
