Import a list from a file

This action is available from all the lists of the application:

  • List of Objects
  • List of Elements

By default, the number of exported lines is restricted to 1 000. You can however customize this value at configuration time.

Several importers can be created for an Element/Object and the user will be prompted to choose from the available list.

If the Clean First property is set to:

Ask – a pop-up appears asking the user if he wants to delete the existing Objects/Elements.

No – the elements are not deleted.

Silent – all the children of the current Object/element are deleted.

When the Collection is saved, the import action is enabled. When the user presses the button, all available importers are suggested.

When the Collection is not saved, the action is enabled only if at least one importer with Clean First property set to Silent is defined. When the user presses the button, only importers with Clean First property set to Silent are suggested.

The format of the imported file is as follows:

  • If configured, the first line contains the technical name of the properties of the object separated with a semi column (";").
  • If an import file Datasource is created and set in the importer, the file may not have a header. In this case the data is mapped on the columns using the datasource.
  • If the Datasource is set in the importer and the header is configured, the name of the columns set in the first line of the file is checked against the name of the columns declared in the Datasource. If the file contains at least one column that cannot be found inside the Datasource, the file is rejected.
  • If configured, the second line contains the comments about the file the properties of the imported objects.
  • The other lines of the files contain the values for the properties of the imported objects.
