Users management

Manage user rights

Types of users

The Prebuilt Dashboards are targeting 4 types of users:

  • Global administrator – must be able to oversee the overall file transfer activity.
  • Delegated administrator – is granted access to a limited set of business unit and as such should be able to oversee transfer activity relating to that scope only.
  • Global relationship manager – must be able to oversee the overall service usage.
  • Business unit relationship manager – must be able to oversee service usage at business unit level.

Rights management concepts

User rights management is built around two main concepts:

  • Application perspective – An application perspective is a navigation context composed of a home dashboard and a subset of other dashboards, depending on the user's profile. The monitoring solution offers a range of perspectives, depending on the profiles of users the monitoring application can handle.
  • User data filtering – The monitoring solution offers an assignation system to enable a delegated administrator to monitor a specific subset of business units.

In the context of the Prebuilt Dashboards, the following corresponding application perspectives have been predefined:

Application perspective / authorized actions

Role

Filtering rule

Global transfer performance + resubmit button Global administrator None
Business unit transfer performance + resubmit button Delegated administrator Business unit
Global service usage Global relationship manager None
Business unit service usage Business unit relationship manager Business unit

Application perspectives

Use application perspectives and user roles to restrict access to a predefined set of dashboards depending on the role(s) to which a user is assigned.

The functional administrator  user role can access configuration tools such as resources and routes and mappings provided by data integration. The functional administrator configures application settings such as punctuality, SecureTransport Instances or evaluation types for business units and watched accounts.
