Catchup

Catchup occurs at node restart. It's the period of time during which DI progressively catches up on all the key performance indicators (KPIs) it could not compute while the node was stopped.

Even while your node is busy catching up on its computings, your dashboards should still display live data as usual.

Catchup versus recomputing

When DI is catching up on past data, it is busy trying to process and compute data that had never been computed by DI previously. This phenomenon occurs at node start/restart.

On the other hand, recomputing occurs when KPIs have already been computed in the past but new data (for example, the arrival of late data into the product) triggers a recomputing with the most recent set of data available to DI.
