Perspectives

Administrators of the Decision Insight applications can define perspectives. Perspectives define how users can see and interact with an application depending on their user role. For more information about how to define user roles, see Managing rights.

Access the Perspectives screen

To modify existing perspectives or to create a new perspective, click the Configuration  icon. On the left menu, click Perspectives in the Dashboards section.

The following table describes the elements of the Perspectives screen.

Feature Description
Name The name of the perspective. The name should be relevant to the users who will be given access to the perspective. All character types are authorized, including spaces.
Key

Each perspective has a key, which is a short unique identifier for the perspective. The key forms part of the URL for accessing the perspective.

For example, if you have a perspective has a key titled myPerspective, the URL for that perspective will look like  https://myserver.domain.int/app#@myPerspective/dashboards/

As the key is part of the URL, it must be short (128 characters maximum) and can only contain alphanumeric characters (A-Z, a-z, 0-9) and dashes (-).

The key must also be unique for an application.

As the key is part of the URL for a perspective, changing it will break all existing Web browser bookmarks.

Home dashboard Select a home dashboard for the perspective, that is the dashboard that is displayed when users first navigate to a perspective. The home dashboard usually displays key statuses and links to other dashboards.
Mini dashboard

Select a mini dashboard for the perspective. This dashboard is displayed at the top of the screen, and displays the data in "live" mode.

Only dashboards with certain characteristics can be chosen as a mini dashboard for the perspective. For more information, see I can't use my dashboard as a mini dashboard.

Main dashboards Select the dashboards to be displayed at the top of the All Dashboards list of the perspective. If you select more than one main dashboard, use the Up and Down arrows under Actions to define the order of the dashboards.
Roles Select the user roles which can access the perspective.
