Partition management

The partition service allows you to execute the following operations:

  • List the partition(s) of a space
  • Update the online period or the retention period of a space or partition
  • Prepare the mount maintenance operation by updating the online period and optionally the backup file name

List partitions

Description

List the partition(s) of a space.

If no option (--space or --partition) is given, then the service lists all spaces.

Note   Partitions containing only failed injection data appear in verbose mode with the status DESALLOCATED. These partitions will be removed by the CLEAN_COLLECTION maintenance task.

Syntax

dstools partition list

[(--space SPACE[--status ONLINE|OFFLINE])|--partition PARTITION]

Parameter

  • space - Space name
  • partition - Partition's identifier such as ROOT/Aud01/006/1312
  • status - Restrict to the status indicated (ONLINE or OFFLINE)

Example

Display the list of partitions of the Audit space :

dstools partition list --space Audit

Display the list of partitions of the Audit space with the OFFLINE status:

dstools partition list --space Audit --status OFFLINE

Update spaces or partitions

Description

Update the online period or the retention period of a space or partition.

You must enter the space or partition name.

If the periods are not defined at partition level, partitions use the periods defined at space level.

The online period or retention period should use the following format: n[Y|M|D]. For example:

3Y: 3 years

4M: 4 months

5D: 5 days

Syntax

dstools partition update

[--space SPACE|--partition PARTITION]

[--online ONLINE_PERIOD]

[--retention RETENTION_PERIOD]

[-n | --display-only]

Parameter

  • space - Space name
  • partition - Partition name
  • online - Value. Should use the format n[Y|M|D].
  • retention - Value. Should use the format n[Y|M|D].
  • display-only - Display the modifications only

Example

Update the online period of the Audit space to 3 months, and the retention period to 1 year:

dstools partition update --space Audit --online 3M -retention 1Y

Mount partitions

Description

Registers the mount of a partition.

The partition name and online period are mandatory. The backup file located in the database restore directory is optional.

Syntax

dstools partition mount

--partition PARTITION

--online ONLINE_PERIOD

[-f | --file FILENAME]

Parameter

  • partition - Partition name
  • online - Value. Should use the format n[Y|M|D].
  • file - Partition backup file name

Example

Register the mount of the partition ROOT/Aud04/007/1302 with an online period of 3 months:

dstools partition mount --partition ROOT/Aud04/007/1302 --online 3M
