Prerequisites

The following are the required accounts or software. Register for the accounts if you don't already have them. You can have a free trial or paid subscription. Postman is a free download and doesn't require registration.

Once you have logged on to the Amplify Platform, find the Application Integration tile on the home page. Click Start Free Trial to get access to Integration Builder. If you already have access, click My Capabilities at the top of the page and click Sandbox in the Integration Builder tile.

Salesforce note

If you get a Salesforce free trial, you must get the Developer edition because it supports APIs. If you already have a Salesforce account, it must be the Enterprise edition or higher. Moreover, make sure API support is enabled in your user profile.

Syncplicity note

An Enterprise account is required. Either your organization's existing account or a free trial you can sign up for.

In addition, you should identify the privacy region of your Enterprise account. This matters when you must authenticate an instance of the Syncplicity connector when completing an exercise.

To identify your privacy region, ask the administrator of your organization's Syncplicity account or do the following:

  1. Log on to your Syncplicity account in a web browser.
  2. Review the URL in the browser address bar. If the URL contains eu.syncplicity the account is in the European privacy region. If the URL doesn't contain eu the account is in the United States privacy region.

If the account is in the US privacy region, no action is needed. If the account is in the European privacy region, you must obtain an API key and secret to authenticate the Syncplicity connector when completing an exercise. The following are the steps.

  1. Log on to the Syncplicity developer portal for the European region.
  2. Click Applications at the top of the page.
  3. Create an application. This doesn't have to be a real application. You only need it to obtain an API key and secret.
  4. Add https://auth.cloudelements.io/oauth as the redirect URL.

  5. Once created, note the Client ID in the table. This is the API key.
  6. In the same table select Actions > View secret. This is the secret.
  7. Record and keep handy the API key and secret for use in an exercise.
