Use the object search tool

By default, when you open the summary page for any Activator configuration object, you see a list of all instances of the object. For example, the Communities page displays all communities, the Partners page displays a list of all partners, and so on. When you have a large number of objects in any UI summary page, it is useful to use the search panel to filter and limit the items displayed.

Display the search tool fields

The search tool is located on the left side of most object display pages. By default, the search panel is hidden. To display the panel, click the Show/Hide tab on the left edge of the screen. To hide the search panel, click the Show/Hide tab again.

Search using criteria

To reduce the number of displayed results, enter criteria in the fields of the search panel and click Find. The criteria that you can select to filter searches varies depending on the type of object you are viewing.

You can filter using a single criterion or any combination of criteria.

You can use wildcard characters "*" and "?" for searches. You can combine wildcards with partial names. For example *comm* would return MyCommunity if such a community existed.

To filter for search results that return every instance of a criteria, use either the asterisk wildcard character (*), or use the syntax: [ANY]. Note that you must use the opening and closing brackets around ANY, or the search returns no results.

Searches are not case sensitive.

Filtered results display

If your current list of objects has been filtered by a criteria-based search, a line of text located above the results list reminds you that a criteria filter has been applied.

Clear criteria

To clear all criteria fields, click Clear. The UI refreshes with an unfiltered list of instances of the current object.

Modify column display

The search tool also enables you to select the columns you want to display in the list of objects, as well as the order in which the columns are displayed.

To manage the column display:

  1. In the search pane of any object, click the up arrow next to the word Columns to display the list of columns.
  2. In the columns list, select (or clear) the selection boxes of the columns to indicate the columns you want to display.
  3. Use the up and down arrows to adjust the order of the columns. The top column name in the search pane displays farthest to the left in the object summary list, and the bottom column displays farthest to the right.
