Update API Portal

Service packs provide important security updates, fixes for known issues, and improved performance for API Portal and its components.

Service packs are provided for both software and virtual appliance installations of API Portal.

Install service packs on a virtual appliance

Service packs are available through the APIPORTAL repository on the appliance itself. The detailed installation instructions and prerequisites for each service pack are described in a readme file associated with the particular service pack. Review the readme before you install the service pack. You can find the readmes from Axway Support at https://support.axway.com.

Install the service pack packages using the Web Administration Interface (WAI). For more details on using WAI, see the API Gateway Appliance Installation and Administration Guide.

Update the update repositories on the virtual appliance

Before you can install a service pack on the virtual appliance, you must check the appliance and API Portal update repositories on your virtual appliance, and update the repository if it is corrupted. You can do this using the zypper utility. For more details on the zypper utility, see the API Gateway Appliance Installation and Administration Guide.

Note You must perform the following steps in terminal console as a root user.

To update the repository, do the following:

  1. Enter the following command:
    zypper repos –u
  2. Check that repositories point to correct URIs:
    AP-LATEST-UPDATES: http://appliance-repo.axway.com/products/ap/7.1.2/updates
    APIPORTAL: http://appliance-repo.axway.com/products/apiportal/7.5.5/updates
If the repositories are as stated here, you can skip the steps 3 and 4.
  3. Enter the following commands:
    zypper rr APIPORTAL
    zypper ar http://appliance-repo.axway.com/products/apiportal/7.5.5/updates APIPORTAL
    zypper mr -r APIPORTAL
  4. Enter the command zypper repos –u. Your repositories should now be pointing to the following URIs:
    AP-LATEST-UPDATES: http://appliance-repo.axway.com/products/ap/7.1.2/updates
    APIPORTAL: http://appliance-repo.axway.com/products/apiportal/7.5.5/updates
  5. Log in to the Web Administration Interface (WAI) at https://<API Portal host>:10000, and click Software Update Management.
  6. Go to the appliance update repository, select Check Updates, and install any available updates.
