Recover an unbootable system

If the system is in a state where it does not boot (perhaps due to modification or deletion of key system files), you can restore the system using a rescue ISO. Contact Axway Support for more information (see Contact technical support).

Check and restore API Gateway permissions to bind to privileged ports

The API Gateway process can run as an unprivileged user (for example, an administrator user instead of root) and still bind to privileged ports (ports < 1024). This is enabled after a default installation, however, if you have changed or modified the base API Gateway installation (for example, to install a bespoke software patch) this capability might be disabled.

To check if the API Gateway process has the correct capability run the following command:

# getcap /opt/apigateway/platform/bin/vshell

The output of this command should be:

/opt/apigateway/platform/bin/vshell = cap_net_bind_service+ep

If this is not the output, execute the following command to restore the capability:

# setcap 'cap_net_bind_service=+ep' /opt/apigateway/platform/bin/vshell
