About the API Gateway Appliance

The API Gateway Appliance (physical or virtual) is a prehardened appliance running the API Gateway runtime. The API Gateway Appliance is a locked-down environment that requires no installation, and the system can be managed easily using a web-based management interface.

The appliance includes the following features:

  • Web Administration Interface – You can configure many aspects of the system using a web-based interface. You can use the Web Administration Interface to modify system user passwords, change the IP addresses of network interfaces on the appliance, view log files, and so on. It also enables you to start, stop, and configure the services running on the appliance.
  • SSH server – You can use the Secure Shell (SSH) server to enable access to the appliance over SSH. You can configure the SSH server using the Web Administration Interface.
  • SNMP server – There is a Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) daemon running on the appliance, which is also configurable using the Web Administration Interface. A Network Management System (NMS) can connect to the SNMP server and use the Axway Management Information Base (MIB) to query status information on the appliance.
  • API Gateway runtime and tools – For more information on API Gateway concepts and features, and the API Gateway tools that are available for the appliance, see the API Gateway Concepts Guide.
