Set the system time and time zone

This topic describes how to set the system time, the hardware time, and the time zone on the appliance using the System Time page of the WAI.

Change the system time

To change the system time, perform the following steps:

  1. Click the Set time tab.
  2. In the System Time section, select a new Day, Month, Year, Hour, Minute, and Second.
  3. Click the Apply button to save the changes. The new time and date is set and the page is refreshed.

Change the hardware time

To change the hardware time, perform the following steps:

  1. Click the Set time tab.
  2. In the Hardware Time section, select a new Day, Month, Year, Hour, Minute, and Second.
  3. Click the Apply button to save the changes. The new time and date is set and the page is refreshed.

To synchronize the hardware time with the system time, click the Set hardware time to system time button.

Change the time zone

By default, the appliance records the time internally as the number of seconds since the 1st January, 1970, GMT time. Programs that need to calculate the current date or time must take into account the time zone. For this reason, the appliance must have its time zone set correctly. The default time zone is PST.

To set the time zone, follow these steps:

  1. Click the Change timezone tab.
  2. Select the appropriate time zone from the list.
  3. Click the Save button.

Use NTP to synchronize the system time

Alternatively, you can use the Network Time Protocol (NTP) to synchronize your system time. For details, see Synchronize the clock with an NTP server.
