Allow root SSH access

For security reasons, direct SSH access by the root user to the appliance is disabled. You can run commands that require root privileges by logging in as an unprivileged user and switching to the root user using the su - command.

Although it is not recommended, in some circumstances you might wish to allow direct root access. Complete the following steps:

  1. Select the SSH Server from the WAI menu on the left.
  2. Click the Authentication icon.
  3. Allow root SSH login
  4. From the Allow login by root field, select Yes.
  5. Click the Save button to return to the main SSH Server page.
  6. Click Apply Changes for the changes to take effect.
