Using Mapping Templates

Axway provides a library of mapping templates you can use to help more quickly transform fields provided by some of the most frequently used types of connectors into single, normalized resources. For more information about Mappings and how to utilize and create them, see Introduction to Mappings and Creating Mappings.

To use a mapping template, you have to clone it from the mapping Templates catalog into a new mapping, select your connectors and services, and edit the fields. See Cloning a mapping Template to learn more.

Accessing the Mappings Template Catalog

  1. Log in to Axway and navigate to the Mappings page.
  2. On the Mappings Catalog page, click the Resource Templates tab.
  3. Hover over a mapping template and do one of the following:
    • Click Overview to see the mapping's description, fields, and data types.
    • Click Mappings to clone the mapping, or to see the mapping's name and URL, system-level fields, and mapped connectors.

Mapping Overview tab

On this tab, you can view the following information about the mapping template:

Section Definition
Name The name of the mapping. You cannot edit the name of a mapping template, but you can clone the template into a new mapping and give it a custom name.
Description A description of the mapping's functionality and purpose
Mapped Connectors Icons indicating the connectors the mapping is pre-mapped to
Fields and Data Types table The fields mapped to the connectors included in the mapping

Mappings Mappings tab

On this tab, you can clone the mapping template and view the following information about it:

Section Definition
Mapping Name and URL The name of the mapping and the URL path where it is accessed
System-Level Fields The fields mapped at the system level of the mapping. When cloning a mapping template, you can select the level at which the system level fields will be set. See Cloning a mapping Template to learn more.
Mapped Connectors Connector cards indicating the connector instances pre-mapped to in the mapping template. To see which system-level fields of the connector, the mapping template will transform, hover over a connector card, and click View.

Cloning a Mapping Template

  1. Navigate to the Mappings tab of the mapping template and click Clone.
  2. Search for and select the connectors you want to include in the mapping, and then click Next. You can also click the checkbox next to the Connector Name column header to select all listed connectors.
  3. Select the level at which the system fields should be created in the mapping, and then click Next.
  4. Enter a unique name for your mapping, and then click Save.
  5. Your new mapping now appears in the My Resources list and is ready for transformations. See Mapping and Transforming Fields to learn more about transformations.

Known issue: if you clone a mapping template into a new mapping, you cannot delete the new mapping and will receive an error. We are aware of this issue and are working to resolve it. As a workaround, clone the mapping template into a new mapping, give it a unique name, and ignore the mapping you want to delete. As a best practice, consider renaming the mapping you are trying to delete with a junk name; for example, DoNotUseThismapping, until it can be deleted.

About Levels

Within Mappings, the available fields are defined within a hierarchy of three levels, each with their own sets of privileges and access: organization, account, and instance. Fields defined at the account level are inherited by all users associated with a specific account, while fields defined at the instance level only apply to a specific connector instance. See Introduction to Mappings to learn more.
